Seems there are some conflicting signs already and the chance of Europe is still there, just.
Some disalusioned fans are already writing his epitaphs, following yesterdays loss at home to Wigan. It had nothing to do with bad tactics, poor tactical changes, cArew, Young, Petrov and most everyone else not giving much if anything, or Wigan's desire to win being bigger than ours.
No its down to Barry, whose brain is elsewhere, who despite bringing us back against Everton, hasn't been really that good of late..How pathetic can Villa fans get.
In O'Neill we trust, goes the God squads mantra. Idiots to a man.

win, win, win and draw
fifth is on our highest position since David O'leary did 6th in his first season, can you believe it.
no neither can most serious Villa fans but we'll all take it with open arms. leading scorers away from home, helped hugely by some fantastic 4 plus scorelines, what more can a happy Villa fan ask for.
2 more wins to finish off the season on a super high and possible European qualification.
You bet.
As it happens I don't and I'm glad, my target for this season was to finish at least as high as O'Leary did in his first year and we should, what has been done to achieve that is just icing on the cake.
Long may it continue

Europe, Europe, here we come
Of course being sixth, with few injuries all season, its to be expected those more prone to high expectation are looking towards a European qualification, even in some cases, a top 4 finish with Villa beating Liverpool to the last position.
Hee, hee.
Back in the real world we await Mart's latest transfer shenanigans, as we approach mid January. Mind as he recently reminded those of a doubting temperament, he did sign 3 very valuable players this time last season, so by implication, hold your breath with expectation.
Players are needed of course and how, we do have the smallest squad in the Premiership, which makes our sixth position all that more laudable, if just a touch fortuitous. Picking the same players each game has its advantages, they get to know each others foibles and weakness' and compensate and as many keep saying Saunders achieved much, with a similar squad size.
It was back in the 80's though and football has changed a wee bit since then, boy has it changed.
Still enjoy while you can, next month we might have lost barry with a hip injury for a few weeks, or Mellberg to illness and then lets see how optimistic Villa fans are of Europe then
